For the past three nights now our 1 1/2 yr old cat has started meowing like crazy about 4-5am. Yes driving us nuts so much that we have to get up and play with him and sleep on the couch for a bit. This morning we tried to ignore it more, and the meows were fewer and farther between and we did get more sleep. Should we be worried about sometihng being wrong, or is he just being a brat getting into this habit and should we ignore it when he does it?
Thanks
5am wake up calls
Re: 5am wake up calls
He could be hungry or lonely. We leave out dry food for our kitten and cat (5yrs old). She comes in my room at about 7am to eat everyday.
She used to wake us up at 5 am, then 4 am and 3 am, as a kitten. She grew out of this finally. It is tiring. WE also got a cat tree which they can play on at anytime.
This is their way of telling you they need something, like playtime or food and unfortunately it does interrupt your sleep.

Re: 5am wake up calls
Waking up at 5am is very therapeutic... My owners wake up to open the door for me at 5am, 5:45am, 6am, 6:24am, 7am, 7:05am, 7:15am and finally 8am everyday, unless i decide to lie in a little. I have them very well trained in deed ...now if only i could get them to leave tuna out for me....
