Cats & Glycerin?

Post by Yzma »

my cats cranberry extract comes in glycerin. i've been giving it to them for about six months now not realising that glycerin is actually sweet! Now i know that cats can not take sugar, but is glycerin a sugar or does it just taste sweet?

forget my old chemistry but i don't think glycerins is classified as a sugar....think most sugars are CHO's which glycerine is not...but why is there glycerine in there and why can't you use plain cranberry concentrate..to much glycerine will tie up the fat soluble vitamines which can lead to a vit. deficiency....

We bought the soluble type as it seemed like it would be easier to administer. I guess the next bottle we buy we'll just get the tablet type. This one's pretty much finished anyway. Thanks Davet.
