Wish me luck on my part time job at the vets...msg

Post by Auntie Debbie »

I start Tuesday night after my day job at my vets as a "Vet Tech Assistant". I start out doing the simpler things like restraining animals while being cared for, ushering in, weighing, taking notes on incoming clients, lab work, hosing down the kennel areas, general cleaning stuff, etc.
I could use some extra money (who can't?) and have eenoking for a good PT job for quite some time. This job pays fairly well, hours are great (at least I'm not coming home 10-11pm like the supermarket I used to work PT at years ago) and it's in an area I have an interest in (animals) and where I will be doing something I feel good about.
So wish me luuck on my first day!
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

Awww....cool, Debbie, you know I'm wishing you luck!

If I can give you any advice, it would be......ask questions, don't be afraid to ask questions...ask some more questions...and always ask questions, ha! (oh, and don't stress!)

You'll get the hang of it in no time :P

Best of luck Auntie Debbie! What a dream job!! You know how some kids in grade school would make up any little ache and pain just to get to the nurse's office either to get out of class or because they had a crush on the nurse herself .... well the furry patients of that vet's office are going to make up all sorts of stories just to keep coming back to you! We can hear the animal speak now .... "meow meow woof woof Auntie Debbie is the best, she gives great belly rubs, she really understands us, she's so cool, we love her kitty kisses" :D

badger away..

Don't worry, Debbie, you'll do fine..it may be alittle overwhelming at first because everything is so fast paced, but if you just hang in there and see the good things, you'll know you belong there.

And don't let Karen scare you (post in kennel)...chances are, you'll love the lab, just leave your camera at home, k? Ha ha!

Traci,
Don't know if I can leave the camera at home So many photo opportunities. In fact a couple Saturday's ago I had to be there for an hour (stayed 2) to observe to see if I'd like that type of work and for them to get a feel for whether or not they liked me. They had this one pug with the cutest facial expressions and I'd love to have gotten my hands on a camcorder for the kitty from hell. Kitty was in one of those cloth type carriers with a zipper on top. Kitty could not be taken out of carrier due to severe hissy fits. He wouldn't let anyone even near him without growling and hissing and spiiting. It was like one of those cartoons with an animal in a box that is bulging at the sides and moving with "$#*%*!!!"s all over the place. They had to drop a towel over the front side and press down while the cats backside went up and got its shots. Kitty had some issues.
You'll be hearing from me!!!!!
Kitty kisses,
Debbie
