A quick update

Post by TheSkeptic »

Jumbo starts his heartworm treatment on Thursday. the Sheltie is at a foster home.

Played ball with the Prince this morning. Took a couple of pics of him chasing the ball. He is good at chasing, not good at catching, though he did manage to do one great catch worthy of Prissy or Bear today. Unfortunately I didn't have the camera ready for that one.

Everyone got excited again when the neighbor left her little Foo Foo dog out to do duties....

I snuck the camera over the fence and took this pic of the little guy or gal

Went on a 911 tonight for a Sheltie hit by a car. The owners had her, but are currently in financial difficulty so they called us to pick her up and have her euthanized. The whole family was bawling as we drove away with Coco.

The vet examined her and did not think her injuries that severe. We put her in the kennel overnight and will see if something cannot be arranged to help the people so that the dog will not have to be put down. At the very minimum we will need x-rays to see how much damage there is so that a treatment can be planned.

Lastly look at these three. A whole bed to sprawl out on and look how they are laying. When I walked in and first saw them they were sleeping like that, but woke up while I was getting the Camera.

Kaiser is unbelievable in that last pic - how can a dog be comfortable like that? Allie and Angel can get into some real strange positions too.

The Sheltie is breaking my heart. If you can't do something for the owners - please get her into rescue! If I were close to you, I think I'd have to do something. Shelties are my weakness. She is really a beauty.

Foo-foo dog - Poodle or Maltese? Tail looks like a Maltese.

How is the Inky situation going??? Is there any lingering animosity among the group or is everything back to normal?

The owners turned the Sheltie over to us and we turned it over to Sheltie rescue. She is now in Baton Rouge being treated.

Kaiser gets into the most awkward and painful looking positions when she sleeps. I've given up on trying to figure out why.

I think I figured out what happens with Inky. She is extremely timid. When the puppies race toward her to play, she turns and bolts. The play chase turns into a PREY chase, with Inky as the target. There is a completely different reaction when they race toward Prissy. The other day it looked like a scene out of a cartoon. The puppers race barking toward Prissy. Prissy stands up and barks fiercely, with hackles raised etc. The Ivory in the front puts on the brakes and sits. She is on the tiles and sliding. Ginger, Kaiser, Pea Pod, Bernie and Ebony behind also try to put on the brakes, but being more massive they cannot stop as fast and they all collide together and desolve into a mass of doggy heads, legs and tails before stopping in front o Prissy who is still standing with teeth bared and hackles raised. They manage to disentangle themselves and take off again in another direction. Prissy turns around once, lays down, puts her head down on her front paws, closes her eyes and sighs before going to sleep.
