Chloe and a rubber band

Post by Mona »

I had a scare over the weekend, little Chloe did not seem to be eating too much. I gave her some laxatone, and when I scooped out her box, I saw something blue which was laced in her stool. It turned out to be a wide rubber band about 1" long. I do remember her chewing on a band that was attached to a punch ball (we had baby sat for a neighbors child) and I took it away from her, apparently not before she ate some of the band.

I am glad that it came out, but wonder if I have anything more to worry about. She is eating and playing normally now.

Oh this was on top of my daughter going to homecoming on Friday, and the prom on Saturday evening. She had a wonderful time!!

Mona, just to play it safe, I'd continue with the laxatone every other day for a few days and monitor her stools for evidence of the remaining rubberband.

As long as she's eating and drinking, and NOT vomiting or unable to produce a stool, chances are, she has passed the worst....

Thanks for your reply. I was very upset to see this, but she tries to eat everything she sees. I will continue the laxatone and no there has been no vomiting, just not herself.

She also cut the rest of her teeth which seemed to hurt her, and when I touched them they literally fell out so I wiggled slightly the other side and they came out. We rinsed out her mouth and the other teeth are now down.

Awww, poor baby, teething is not fun.

Do watch her appetite/eating/drinking/litterbox habits really closely today and tomorrow. If she does not improve to her usual self 100% or develops any of the following, don't wait to get her seen: lethargy, fever, distended abdomen, unable to produce a stool/straining to produce/blood in stool, vomiting--including water--, or hiding and withdrawal.

Traci~

SHe did produce a lot of stool this am. It looked perfectly fine (soft from the laxatone). She is eating again and playing, so I am hopeful that the worst is over now.

Thanks for your concern and help.

I am very happy to say that Chloe is back to herself, eating and drinking normally!! After eating that rubber band I was watching her closely and gave laxatone for several days. Her stools are normal too, so I think we are out of the woods now. Yippee!!
