Poisoned kitty feeling blue any advice

Post by Maxx »

I'm new to the forum and apologize for any poor netiquette. I'm trying to learn so be patient please. My 2 year old Female Tabby, Stormy, recently fell into a sink full of simple green household cleaner. She apparently ingested some and threw up. We quickly washed it off of her and rushed her to the vet. She was given two shots and we we're told the simple green was relatively safe. That was 2 days ago and now she sleeps alot and won't eat. We syringe feed her KMR milk every 2 - 3 hours. Any recommendations on how we can help her? It's the weekend and her normal vet is closed. She uses the litterbox when she needs but mostly just sleeps and occasionally dry heaves. Thanks so much for any advice forthcoming.

To an ER vet

Hi Maxx...I'm so sorry about your kitty...I found this link on Simple Green...not sure how accurate it is. I do notice simply green doesn't list their ingredients on the label...even if they claim it is non toxic, there are often items that are safe for humans that can be harmful to cats.

I'd recommend getting your kitty to an ER vet, ASAP...If she isn't eating and is lethargic something isn't right and she needs care right away. I wouldn't wait until your vet is back in the office...please take her to an ER vet. I'll keep her in my prayers, I know you are worried.

2-butoxyethanol solvent is a toxic substance, despite their claims there are no toxic ingredients, it is still being tested and evaluated.

Get your kitty to a new vet RIGHT now and test for toxicity, kidney failure if ingested.

Btw, you've been warned/banned from this board before, consider this your only warning.

I'm very sorry to hear that your kitty is so sick. PLEASE do as the others have suggested and get your cat to an ER vet as soon as possible. I hope your kitty fully recovers very soon.

:D Thank you all sooo much for your advice. I did indeed rush her to the ER where, after some tests, I was told her blood looked okay and we were lucky she must not have actually ingested much. They recommended a few days of R & R which she's getting. Also, I'm happy to report, she's eating soft food regularly and even attempted playing with her rattle mice several times today. Thank you for your sage advice and the comforting words.
