abby with excessive urine
My mother has an 8 yr abysinnian who, for the past six months has had an increasingly wet litter box but no other symptoms. Then last night the cat was sleeping on mom's lap and when mom got up her lap was all wet. This was the first episode of incontinence the abby has had. Am looking for similar experiences and what this could be. Crystals, kidney disease, or worse? And what would the vet order in tests? Will a diet change help? She is on, and has always been on dry food.
Re: abby with excessive urine
Your cat needs to be seen right away by a vet. You need to have blood work and urinalysis done to rule out kidney disease or crystals and diabetes. You should do this immediately. Let us know what you find out. Please do not wait any longer. kk

Moonspinner,
I completely agree with kk. Hopefully by this time, your Mom has taken the kitty to the vet. If not, your Mom's kitty really needs to examined by a vet now!!
It's impossible to diagnosis over the web, but this is clearly an emergency situation to r/o causes of this incontinence especially if the kitty is obstructed..
My Smokey was being treated for a UTI and he was leaking urine...needless to say, he was urethra was completely blocked (life threatening) and required emergency surgery.
Please keep us updated.
