Good day!
If someone could help me, it would be great! I use Strongid (yellow liquid) to deworm my cats. I have been giving them 1cc since I got them and they weighed weighed 5 pounds (per vet directions). One of the cats had kittens about 3 months ago, and I would like to deworm the kittens today with the older cats (they are all hunters on our farm and eat their "prizes").
Would 1 cc of the Strongid be ok for the 3m old kittens as well? Or do I need to lower the dose?
Thanks!
-Rachael
Dose for Strongid dewormer in kittens
Strongid and Droncit need to be dosed according to weight, and of course, according to health condition. Never deworm a kitten or cat who is not feeling well or is suffering an illness, without the direction of your vet.
If the kittens are at least 3 lbs, you can give 1/2 cc Strongid each, can be repeated 14 days later. As with any dewormer or any other medication, if the kittens vomit or develop diarrhea or any other sign of illness, contact your vet at once (yes it's possible to overdose with dewormers)
Strongid only targets roundworms and hookworms, for tapeworms you need Droncit, and please don't use any over-the counter variations, or any OTC dewormer product at all.
FYI, we don't dose on this board. Since you've had your vet's direction previously with the strongid, that is an exception. We cannot begin to know a kitty's general health status, weight or vitals, dosing should always be left up to direction of your vet concerning ALL medications.

Re: Dose for Strongid dewormer in kittens
Thank you, Traci, for the information and board tip. I will be sure to weigh the kittens before giving them the dewormer, and if they are not yet 3 pounds, I will wait.
Warm regards,

If they are less than three pounds, and depending on their weight exactly...you can simply call your vet and ask about dosing, just be sure to tell him the weight of each kitten.
