Beautiful Day today....

Post by TheSkeptic »

Spent most of it outside -- working around the yard. Took breaks with the dogs as it was too beautiful to waste only on work.

Before starting on those pictures here is the reason I think Coco is just lazy about not walking. Coco Eating while standing up.

Image

She will take one or two steps after eating before flopping back down and dragging the old hindquarters.

Now for the good stuff. Fall is officially here. in fact it was almost arctic out there this morning. Temos were way down in the sixties. (Get them jackets and long undies out!) The low temps were aggravated by a strong north wind. I tried to capture the wind blowing the trees, but still pics don't work well for that.

Image

The dogs seemed strangly envigorated by the frigid temps and had a wonderful romp this morning.

Image

Image

Even the older dogs were more active playing than usual.

Image

However even the younger dogs wore themselves out.

Image

After doing our work we took the dogs out for another romp in the afternoon. The first pic shows Inky running toward me. What is unusual about this picture is that when Inky first came here, she would not stay in the same room I was in. When we went outside like today, she would hide in one of the side allies if I was out.

Image

Cheryl threw the ball for the dogs that play ball. Can you tell from their intent looks which dogs are the primary ball players?

Image

Here is Prince getting a "grounder."

Image

Prince again getting the ball in spite of the pass interferance from Inky and Apache.

Image

This was Prissy's ball, but she didn't chase it so Prince was allowed to make a valiant late attempt to catch the ball.

Image

Here is a close up of the attempt.

Image

Shortly after that we went back inside. You have heard of the peid piper of Hamlin, well here is our version.

Image

We will end as we began with a picture of Coco. Paying the price of her refusal to walk on all fours.

Great pics, Skeptic! Prince is quite the ball player, isn't he? Mr. Blue doesn't go for tennis balls, but any toy with a squeaker in it gets his interest. I think he'll let his warthog toy "live" for about 1 month; he'll play with it, then ignore it, then go in for the kill. I'm afraid I'm jealous these days of your definition of "fall" - the temp has gotten down to the 30's the last couple of nights. And it's way too dark in the mornings; it just seems really good for staying in bed. Unfortunately, my employer wouldn't approve of that.... :D

That nice cool weather is headed our way - I can't wait. My dogs act the same way as yours - it's like they've suddenly come alive.

Great pics, as always. Love the one of Prince going for the ball!

Oh those sweet, happy dogs! The cooler weather does give them a new lease on life after a hot summer.
