We have three cats, all about 6 months apart...
Bobbie the oldest is about 1.5yrs while Mythie the youngest is about 6 months old... Zooey Zoo Nuts, the middle cat is about a year old.
Our poblem is that Mythie and Zooey are getting very close to each other and Bobbie as a result gets left out and as a result of getting left out, gets depressed...
How do we balance the relationship so that Mythie gets closer to Bobbie?
Inevitably, Zooey & Mythie are going to be closer, just by virtue of the fact that they are in fact more social than Bobbie is...
Any ideas as to how we can get Bobbie & Mythie to hang out more?
Should I set aside playtime for Bobbie & Mythie alone? And leave Zooey in the bed room while they are playing?
The other problem we have is that, Mythie and Zooey get particularly agressive when they play... How do we change their play patterns?
How do we balance a three cat equation?

well, as you mention, Bobbie seems less social so will probably be just fine without a really close relationship with either of them.Anonymous wrote:Our poblem is that Mythie and Zooey are getting very close to each other and Bobbie as a result gets left out and as a result of getting left out, gets depressed...
my only suggestion (mostly a guess) is to confine either Mythie or Zooey and allow the other to roam around with Bobbie for a while (probably just an hour or so, while they are awake). setup quaters for the locked up one so leaving them there for a while is ok. this might direct some positive attention towards Bobbie.
i wouldnt reverse it, like leaving only one out and confining Bobbie with one of them...that would probably be too much for Bobbie.
good luck and remember that your interactions with Bobbie just might be the most important to his somewhat non-social personality....maybe he is a "people cat" (like we are "cat people").
Re: How do we balance a three cat equation?
Over the last two days Mythie & Bobbie have been napping together in the 'sick' bay in the afternoon. I find that when the two of them are together Mythie tends to just play by herself and Bobbie sits near by her and watches, and sometimes joins in.
While they are together in the 'sick' bay i'm usually out side with zooey... and then the rest of the time Bobbie & zooey are together outside the sick bay while i am in it...
This time sharing of bobbie seems to be working well, as she is never alone... Thanks for the advice...
