A nice visit...
November 2002 a 911 call about an injured dog on River Road. It was a Mother dog with some pups. Her shoulder was broken, but she was otherwise uninjured. I took this picture when we arrived on the scene.
The break was old and healed, but her leg stuck out at an odd angle. SHe also had a bad case of Mange. We decided to keep her at the shelter until her pups were weaned. At that time she would be PTS.
A lady came to the shelter saw the mom and pups and heard the story and our plans for the Mother. Her heart went out to the mother and she paid for her treatment.
She later adopted her and named her LUCKY. She brought Lucky to the shelter for a visit today. Here are two pictures of her. Notice the change!

That is great! "Lucky" dog indeed! She looks Malamute or Siberian around the head, but the body and tail are definitely beagle, don't you think? Anyhow, a fine handsome dog. What I want to know is, how on Earth did they correct the healed damage to such an extent? Must have reset the whole shoulder, right? I would be interested to know where the work was done.

She is beautiful! It is always nice to hear of some kind-hearted individuals...in Rescue, it is usually the opposite!

The local vets refered her to LSU vet school. I think most of the orthopedic work was done there.E's wrote:That is great! "Lucky" dog indeed! Beautiful and beautiful story... a lucky dog and from the look of that sweet face, I'd say the lady who helped and adopted her is lucky also...

So glad to hear of a story like this with a happy ending. Were all of her pups OK and did they get adopted too?
