Need advice on this open wound, (not for the faint of heart)

The vet has decided to only clean the wound once a day now. Her stool has firmed up a bit, since she's been on the medication...

This morning Mythie was sitting on my chest showing off her wound, and i couldn't help but think... 'i think it looks a bit better today...' thinking it was just me, i voiced my opinion at the vet today, and they seemed to think it has gotten a bit smaller too...

The soft stool continues to be a concern for us. I hope it clears up soon. i'm feeding her the required amount for her weight, but i'm staggering the meals over the day in about 4-6 little portions...

Well, i'll be taking a picture today... I just hope nothing happens to complicate the healing process...

just IMHO i would not do anymore surgery on the wound...nature does a far better job than any vet can do and furthur undermining and suturing will allow bad bacteriat to enter....as the graunlation occurs the body tends to foight off the pathogens....again if it wern't for mother nature us vets would have nthing to do....don't know about ad lib feeding, your vet can better appraise this.,..don't forget the pictures and keep looking for that "proud flesh" or little granules forming...that is the good news.

Yzma, I very much agree on those suggestions, particularly the use of penicillin-type antibiotics if they haven't already been given. Please do ask your vet for specific home-care instructions on how to clean and take care of/monitor her wound at home, this is soooooo important!!

We are in fact on anti bios... baytril and it's the flourosene variety... well it sounded like he said flourosene anyway... it's healing... it's not as deep as it was...

we are getting her re-cleaned everyday, he has said not to worry about cleaning it ourselves as she is going back for cleaning daily... her loose stool seems to be firming up.

we are feeding her the recommended amount for her weight at the moment, but in small portions... other than that we're keeping her away from the other two furballz and, i don't think the vet wants to do any further surgery and we are happy with that decision for now...

i'm not sure what the granules davet keeps mentioning are or what they look like, but perhaps when i post the next pic you can point them out to me...

also, she has stopped oozing so much

and yes we are only using paper towels in the litter box...
