Great dog food, has anyone tried it?
I was just wondering if anyone tried the Dick Van Patten Dog food, Natural Balance? I have had my bichons on many different kinds of foods for various problems and they have been on this food for almost a year and their eyes and mouths have completely quit tearing and staining! They have beautiful thick coats now and are snow white! I also have a stray, Hailey, that is on it and she was a big-time shedder and has quit shedding and has grown a beautiful long coat from it. Just thought I would pass it on.

I've never tried it, but this is good to know!...msg
I've switched Mr. Blue to the "Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul" food now. I like it for him because it doesn't have any yeast in it, which makes him itchy. It also doesn't have those BHA/BHT preservatives, etc. I like knowing what other foods people like for their dogs, though, just in case something comes up.
Re:
Mary, just curious (and because I haven't looked it up), who is the parent company of this?

Hi Traci...I think it's Diamond. Mr. Blue loves the food...
...although, truth be told, he loves all food
Hmmm
Ok, if truth be known, I'm not hot on Diamond products, but if Mr Blue likes it and is doing well on it, that's great, just ignore me

What don't you like about the Diamond products?I've never...
...used them prior to trying this food. I thought the ingredients looked really good, and he seems to be doing really well on it. But I sure do want to know about any potential problems, if you don't mind.
No problem
No problem, Mary. My experience is with the cat foods, many of our clients really don't have good things to say about it, mainly soft stool issues, palatability. One of our local dealers really doesn't take freshness seriously, I would never recommend that particluar dealer. But, that's not to say some pets won't do ok on it. In Mr Blue's case, you know it's working or not, and that's got to be your deciding factor, that's important

Mary, I just saw the chicken soup food at the pet food store
and it looked really good! I bought the sample size ($1.99- nice that they offered such a thing) and may give it a try. I've been switching around alot and the dogs are putting on mucho weight. I'm back with the Natural Blend (which made the new top 10 from Whole Dog Journal) because it is lower calorie than most of the other premium brands. I'll let you know if the dogs like the chicken soup!

Yes, I'll be curious to hear what you think of it, Julie B..
So far, Mr. Blue likes it and he's had normal stool patterns, etc. I haven't heard much about it from other dog people, so I'll definitely want to hear. Traci, thanks for the comments on Diamond. I'd looked at their other foods before, and wasn't too impressed, but I like the looks of this one.
Yes, and with good results....msg
I have my allergy girl on the Potato and Duck Formula. She is doing quite well and I'm pleased so far. She's been on it for almost a year.Anonymous wrote:I was just wondering if anyone tried the Dick Van Patten Dog food, Natural Balance?
