Help! Cat wont stop pooping all over!

Post by cdenby »

I have a 5 month old male kitty that started pooping all over about a week ago. I had run out of dry catfood and gave him a packet of wet catfood. It gave him diarreha and he began 'going' everywhere but the litter box. I put him back on his normal dry food and his BM is normal again but he still wont go in his box. So I went out and bought him a new box with new litter and put it in a different spot. He has used it a couple of times but also goes on the floor. He also has been sitting out on my screened in porch and meowing out the window. My question is can this have something to do with puberty? And can it be fixed by getting him neutered? I have only had females in the past so this is new to me. Also he is the only cat in the house. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

When you say 'new' litter. Did you change the brand or did you just put in fresh litter? My cats REFUSE to use any other litter than what I'm using now (therefor I stock up in case the store stops carrying it). If you changed litter brands, try changing back. As for the crying at the door to go out, I have a cat that will sit at the window and cry to go out all day long when the mood hits. She's spayed, so I don't know if neutering will help. Then again, he is an intact male and may be smelling a female in heat. Neutering might help yours. Good luck!

i would get him neutered ASAP because it is probably teritorial and the long er it lasts the worse it will be to break him of it. Also put down several boxes a dn the slowly get them to one spot....but get him neutered toot sweet.....

Will it affect anything if I get him neutered at 5 months instead of six? And I did by the same litter, my guy seems to be picky too. He is also siamese and Ive heard they can be pretty tempermental.

I would also take him to the vet and have him checked out for health issues. When they poop out of the litterbox oftentimes they are trying to tell you something, and hope you are listening.

5 months old is not at all too early to neuter; actually some might say that 5 months is late. I'd do it asap.
