Some Quick Pics
These are from a dog food delivery a few days ago. Not about the delivery itself, just some scenes there.
First some wild swamp flowers.
Then just a high ground area in the swamp shaded by trees.
The view in the opposite direction, showing the bayou.
Of course no swamp would be complete without a toothy "Swamp Monster." (This one has severe underbite.)
A swamp beagle belly surfing in the grass also seems obligatory. ....
Now a few pics from the back yard this morning..
I had a wonderful shot of 4 of the dogs at the base of the Cypress tree this morning. There are only three in the picture because one decided to squat just as I pressed the shutter. She was cropped out! ....
This one I am surprised came out. The early morning sun gave Prissy's coat a reddish tint, so I took a chance and got this picture.
The Storms last month had stripped the buds nad flowers from our Crepe Myrtle tree. However, it has now made a full recovery and is blooming again. ....

Re: Some Quick Pics
What lovely pics! I especially like the 1st and 3rd. Monday afternoon my son and I went up to a place near Denham Springs [for non Louisianians, this is an eastern suburb of Baton Rouge] to take care of more business re the totalled Taurus [sounds like a song don't it?] and more on that some later date... Anyway, we went over the Bonnet Carre Spillway [non LA: it's pronounced Bonny Carray, more or less] then took 55 and I-12... such pretty country I think; to me the swamps are at their best here at the end of summer. I told Mike, I guess I really am a Louisianian at heart... think I always was, even being from Texas and Missouri and living so many other places... I love the flora and the fauna, and knowing the World's Ocean is right over the horizon...
Thanks for the pics... the little "Swamp Monster" is new, or is it just the pose?

Nice pics - as always. I guess I need to get a few from around here and post them sometime. (Since your in La, you had to get the obligatory swamp monster. I guess here, it's obligatory palm trees - do you think the sagos at the end of my driveway will fool people?)
I'm curious too - the swamp monster and surfing beagle - whose dogs? The beagle doesn't look like Sweet Pea (at least not in this picture).

THe Swamp Monster and the Beagle both belong to the rescue lady I was bringing the food to. Swamp Monster's name is BABY and he is over 10 years old. The Beagle used to be at our shelter and his name is BAA BAA. Baa Baa is about 10 also. Normally they are inside, but come out to "visit" when I drop off food supplies.

Very Nice pics!!
I never realized the hidden beauties found around a swamp, thanks to you I got to enjoy them too! That is an adorable toothy swamp monster, the others are all cute too!!
I think the cool weather here has halted our crepe myrtle blooms we got into the low 50s last night here in Virginia and some areas in the upper mountains were in the 40s. Our crepe myrtle had just come into full bloom not long ago. I am enjoying our dogwoods we have a pink one that has already turned with deep red leaves and bright red berries that the squirrels are raiding.

Sounds like you have a wonderful beautiful fall yard. We don't get a real fall here. It goes from HOTTEST to HOTTER To HOT then back to HOTTER and HOTTEST again.Beth Va wrote:Very Nice pics!!

I love the beautiful autumn leaves but it doesn't stay around long. Around mid October the leaves begin to peak. Then it looks like a beautiful quilt here with the deep greens of the pines, and the rich reds, bright yellow and gold leaves and the eye popping orange mixed with rust colors too. I love the yellow or orange leaves speckled with reds or green spots best. Its unbelievable the number of people who enjoy the Blue Ridge parkway this time of year. There are many who bring along their dogs to enjoy the trails or overlooks. As for your warm or hot weather I may be dreaming of some heat this winter especially if its anything like the last winter too many days with snow.
