I apologize to Amanda for calling her a Border Collie - I knew better. After I posted that, I had a feeling I'd goofed. But anyway, I think all the herders have that trait in common - and I think that's only one of the reasons we love them so much. I still think she was a good girl to alert you to the danger - next time, it might be real and she'll be a heroine!

Now that I think about it, Amanda gets nervous when things are out of place or don't look right. It may only be a towel hanging on the door, she lets me know. She doesn't bark but she'll look at it and pace around. Or she won't go to bed until it's removed. This probably explains why she takes hubby's shoes out into the dog pen. She is protecting us from the smell. Now that's a smart dog.

I have to agree, but then, maybe she likes the smell!

At least she is alerting you to what could be real danger. Allie barks at what appears to be nothing. And the bark is quite forceful and defiant. She's done this since I got her at 8-weeks old. I jokingly say she can see ghosts, but sometimes, I think this may not be a joke!
