Zinc- useful? Chemists, Vet ppl...etc...

Post by momPaws »

I give my dog Innova, but she also gets a supplement which helps a lot in reducing skin flaking and itching. This time when I rec'd the order they have added Zinc to the supplement. Is this something that will help her, hurt her or no diff?? (I realize the dosage counts, but am assuming that the amt. 2.90 mg per teas. is proportionate.)

(Says on bottle that the Zinc is for shiny coat and for skin.)

zinc does help skin/coat condition in dogs and cattle but i don't remember the reccomeded daily amount but suspect your 2.9 mg is safe...might be good to check cause zinc toxicity can be a problem....if i find the RDD will post it but i think you are safe...

2.5 mg sounds fine. The multi vit and mineral I give Scribs everyday contains 2.5 mg zinc.

Thanks, Tom- here dosage would be about twice that much since it is per teas. and they recommend 2 t. per day..you think that is still ok../ about 5.8 mg per day?
