New kittens
New kittens
My mother has taken in a stray cat and she had 5 kittens Saturday morning. She took her in because she knew she was about to pop. I want to tell her if there is anything in particular she needs to do for them. They are all healthy and nursing. She has them in a large kennel and lets the mom out every so often to eat, drink and use the bathroom. She has MANY other cats is why they are in a kennel to begin with. Any suggestions??
Re: New kittens
Your mother is doing the right thing, it is good she took her in.
How many kittens are there? The mother and kittens should be examined by the vet to make sure all is well, esp since the Mom was outside.
She will need to be tested for FIV/FELV and be examined to make sure she does not have worms (being outside most likely she will and they can be passed on to the kittens). The vet will tell you when this can be done.
Good luck to you and your Mother.
Please post updates and would love to see pictures.
