thing with paws

Post by christa »

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone can tell me why cats do that thing with their paws....where it looks like they are massaging something. My cat does it constantly and it is starting to drive me nuts....especially when he is doing on on my stomach or chest after he jumps up to get a pat. Any help would be great!! Thanks

from your description of his behavior (especially on you) im assuming a front declawed kitty.

my cats do the same with one of them doing it *all* the time. from what i know, its a form of affection...having something to do with scratching as they would with claws.

if you find the massaging too much, i would suggest moving the kitty to another area when he is doing that to you. sometimes my rocky will make muffins on my neck a little too hard and i will gently move him a bit lower so he is not choking me ;) might also want to place a quilt or something on you to suppress some of the pressure.

he is only doing it because he loves you, remember that.

Cats do that to show their affection or to show that they are content. My boy Chauncey (who has all his claws) insists on "kneading" me when I'm laying down. I just pick him up, put a thick blanket on top of me, and let him "knead" away!!!

Your cat is just showing you that he/she loves you!!!!
