Until our male cat Spidey got fixed, he was blessing every surface in the house. We've had success with something we got from the pet store called 'Dumb Kitty." It's an enzymatic cleaner. Trouble is, I had no desire to get down close to the floor for the sniff testing! lol

He's stopped peeing now (thank goodness) except in the appropriate place. We were a bit worried he'd start again when we got our new kitten, Cassie, but so far so good.

My main problem right now is the smelly areas where the cats sit to clean themselves- it smells as bad as if they did pee there!

late on this but the advice on odor removers for urine is good advice. There are several products available at pet stores. Regarding ammonia: urea in the urine, when exposed to oxygen, is converted to ammonia so using ammonia to clean a pee spot would be like adding gasoline to fire, so to speak, and would generate more urination in the area.
