First on my PC --
The symbols does not always indicate when there are new posts. The colors of all the icons will stay the generic gray.
PC's this has been observed on.
Compaq 7AP190 -- 1 ghz Athlon Processor. 512 meg of ram. Windows 98. ISP AOL 8.0
Compaq EVO Intel P4 256 meg of ram. Broadband ISP Reserve Telephone & Cable. XP Professional. IE the Browser.
Now for the Mac.
I cannot click on an Emoticon and have it placed in a message. ...
Mac OS-9.0 Mac G-4 450 ghz 768 meg of Ram. ISP/Browser AOL 5.0/IE

You have to be difficult, don't you, LOL. As for the buttons indicating new posts, make sure you are logged IN. They will not be hi-lighted unless you are logged in. When you are inside of a forum, the tiny arrow and orange folder will appear when there are new posts made since your last logged session. Also, check this forum for Jason's suggestion for using the ALT keys on other browsers. (subject: new messages not showing up)TheSkeptic wrote:First on my PC --

I will have to leave that q to Jason, but he is unavailable until after May 1. I'm not sure if Mac users cannot access certain functions. I might be able to ask Mr P to help out with that...I cannot click on an Emoticon and have it placed in a message. ...

it's the SHIFT-n-Reload procedure, but otherwise Traci is right on the money...the forum "remembers" what you have seen and will let you know what you have not seen only if you login, otherwise you are a "guest".Traci wrote:As for the buttons indicating new posts, make sure you are logged IN. Javascript is enabled. Maybe I need to upgrade to a newer version. ....
The computer business is self generating. .... You buy faster hardware to run the programs more efficiently and faster. THey increase the size of the programs so that they require more powerful machines. If you don't upgrade, you get left behind on compatability issues. .......
