Ants in food

Post by Saphire_1975 »

I've been feeding a stray in my neighborhood but it seems that 10 minutes after I feed her the food is taken over by ants then she won't eat.
Is their a way that I could keep the ants out of her food? Now I can only feed her if I happen to be outside when she is hungry. Please don't sugest that I take her in I just got Sammy and Cassie adjusted to eachother and don't want to change their world again. Pluss although I've gotten her shots and her spayed I cannot afford the aditional vet bills involved in keeping her as a pet.

place the food bowl inside a larger bowl that has water in it.

do not allow the food bowl to simply float in it or it will surely make contact with the side, instead place something in the middle to rest the food bowl up on.

Wow, Jason - that is a great idea! I wish I'd thought of that! I was just going to suggest getting an elevated bowl or putting the food on top of something like an outdoor chair..... I like your suggestion much better!
