Jason and Rocky

Post by Mona »

Jason~

I am wondering how Rocky is doing today. Any better, did he pass something to ease his situation?

Honeybun is concerned about him. Please update.

sorry for not updating sooner, situation was acting in some ways like better and in other ways like no change. i will summize the best i can here.

while touching rocky on his belly and ears last night (just over 24 hours after his antihistamine injection) he did appear slightly warm. his gums were wet and of a light pink color and the color would return to pink in just under a second after slight pressure was applied. he was still very lethargic and appeared to be drinking more than usual. also, last night and this morning he would not touch the laxatone at all; this is highly irregualar for him...he usually will eat till he chokes (if you know what i mean, eats it faster than he can swallow).

i made the decision last night to take him back for a recheck on his temperature last night first thing this morning, which i did. his temp was now at 101.5 (much better), but the doc said he felt very constipated. was not sure if it was merely a hairball or maybe other blockage.

he is staying for the day at the vet and they are going to perform the following :
  • blood work (lytes/cbc/something else)
  • x-rays
  • iv fluids to keep him hydrated (might make the stool go quicker)
  • depending on x-rays an enema will be performed (EnEze--DSS)
i should get a call from the vet later today.

thanks for asking Honeybun (you too Mona).

Jason~

THanks for updating.

Honeybun had fluids when she was constipated, seems the older they
get the less things work. We opted for the enema too! I will tell you they work wonders.

Rocky I hope everything works out and I am thinking of you.

glad to hear the good news. rocky is just under 2 years old (i think) and has gone through alot for just a kid. i really hope he has a better year or two coming up...he deserves it.

on another note, i went back home after the morning visit/drop-off to pick something up and java was stitting up on the table on the back porch. she does this when she is looking for something or wanting something, i think she misses rocky already. i (of course) gave her some attention...she's a cutie!

Hi Jason,

I'm sorry to hear that Rocky is having quite his share of physical problems this year.

I'm praying he gets better soon. Poor baby!!

thanks Lisa....update:

blood work came back looking real good, they got a set of xrays but not the quality they were looking for (heh), so are doing some more.

he will (more than likely) get his enema soon and have this crap behind him real soon :P

Jason,

My pet mama trapped my feline feral mama two weeks ago to get her spayed and vaccinated. My poor feline mama was so stressed and depressed from the surgery, sedations, vaccines and being confined that she hardly ate and didn't have a succesful poop. My pet mama took her to the ER for the second time that week and the x-rays showed MewMew stuffed all the way to the transverse colon. She was given an enema and the majority of it was expelled. She seems to be doing much better now and her howling cries have turned to hisses and meows.

Here's hoping Rocky has a smooth passing and is back home soon! Tell Java to hang in there, I know how she feels. When Keeks had her teeth cleaned and was locked in the bedroom for a day until the sedations wore off (Keeks and drugs just don't mix) I missed her terribly and waited by the door for her all night.

(((hugs)))
