davet, ldvet, traci, anyone - bloody diarrhea and vomiting
bloody v/d
I hope all is well with the puppy. I can understand how panicked your daughter has been over this. It sounds like good supportive care is the best thing right now and it may take a few days. Let us know how everything is going.
Thanks everyone for the replies and messages of concern
I spoke with my daughter about an hour ago, and the dog is bouncy, playful and acting totally normal. The diarrhae has totally stopped and he has an apetite.
Thanks so much for all the info. Traci - Buster is right at 8 months old. Since all seems well, I'm not going to worry my daughter with thoughts of Parvo unless the symptoms return. I know Parvo won't clear up in less than 24 hours! I suspect something toxic. I questioned her thoroughly to find out if he had gotten into anything like rancid garbage. She knows of no incident that would fit that description, and he is crated when she isn't home. I do think your idea of yard pesticides is very likely - he likes to pull up and eat the grass. I will mention this to my daughter.
As best we can tell, the worst is over. If things go bad again, I'm sure I'll be back on-line to ask for more advice
Again - thanks to everyone for the great info and good wishes. It's very much appreciated!

the food doesn't have to be rancid..Corinne and i made::
a house call in Miami one night to a real princesses home (princes Rospieliosa (sp))
had to be admitted through a guard house and found this genuine princess sitting on the kitchen floor holding her pekanese..the dog had eaten chicken skins and got real sever hemorrhagic diarrhea...a little atropine and the dog was fine...but who would exdspect chicken skins, cooked no less, to cause this..

He does seem to have a sensitive stomach
He's a very finicky eater. Kimberly is used to our dogs eating almost anything without getting sick, so this is something new to her. Her dog seems to get nauseous with almost everything. The only thing she can think of that she gave him that was not dog food was a 1/2 piece of thin-sliced deli ham (Heathly Choice - so low fat) that she gave him while she was making her sandwich. We may never know what caused this.
