Jason, any ideas on this computer problem?

Post by Marty »

We have Cox cable modem, which has always been great. But the past 2 weeks, I can't do anything in the afternoon. Zone Alarm (firewall) gives me a "high traffic" notice and Cox goes in and out. Would it be my computer, the modem itself, Cox, or what? I am not terribly computer saavy, but am trying to be. Thanx

with the MsBlaster worm and Sobiv virus, your firewall (and the internet) migh tbe busy blocking the attacks/requests.

might want to put in a call to cox to be sure its not on their end before you go hunting too deep into your own equipment.

Son came over last Thurs and did not find MsBlaster. We updated Zone Alarm yesterday. I do know one of my newsletters was having a problem...I hope it wasn't me...I will check with Cox tomorrow...all is working fine now...it is 730pm here...and no, I am not going deep in my computer....

i didnt mean you per se, but since you use cox cable that means your bandwidth is *shared* with others in your area...if others have the blaster worm then they are taking up some of your bandwidth.

dsl is not shared and would not give you this behavior. im not ruling out issued internal to you network, just might tbe the coincidental issues everyone else is having with the latest worm and virus that came out.
