Clean Cat

Post by dklass »

HELP! I have never had this problem before. My little girl had a runny bowl movement and got it on her backside. It drove her crazy as she is a very clean little girl. She cried and cried. I didn't know what to do for her. I got a warm rag and cleaned it as best I could because she wouldn't let me. What do you do in a case like that?

I would try to get her in the bath tub...not an easy thing with a cat, I know. Use a large cup and pour warm water over her, and use a mild shampoo.

I would also get her to the vet to find out WHY she had a loose stool like that...maybe she was crying because she was hurting and not just because of the mess

Agree, to the vet for a full exam....the vet can check a stool sample for evidence of worms or bacterial infection.

Diarrhea in cats can leave very sensitive tissue in the anal area, so trying to keep it clean, wiping, etc can actually agrivate the skin...your vet can give you a gentle solution to use.
