Service Dog Story

Post by Tambrey »

A woman on my other forum has a son who is autistic and has seizures...they just got his service dog this last week, and she said the other day, the dog got whiney and insistent, and pretty soon her son had a seizure, so they know how he (dog) gives warnings...

well she just wrote this today (on the forums, her son is nicknamed Runt, and her daughters nicknames are Dancer and Tweedle)
Runt's new Service Dog, Tuck just walked over to me and started to nuzzle me like he does to Runt when he's detecting a seizure or migraine. Runt suggested I check my sugar level. 163! It very rarely gets that high. So now the dog is servicing me too. Oh boy.

But he's following Runt around like he's glued to him. He knows that Runt is his boy and he stays with him.

Just wanted to share that little tidbit with y'all. Thought it was interesting that the dog picked up on me as well as Runt.

Runt thinks it's great too. He said he hoped that it didn't start detecting another boy he goes to school w/ who has diabetes. Will be interesting to see what happens.
It is just amazing what dogs can do for us...if we only let them...

Animals are amazing aren't they. I do believe they have a sixth sense that we humans also have, but animals have not learned to ignore it.

Totally off topic...the names reminded me so much of the movie Disco Pigs. The two main characters in that movie are Runt and Pig
