Question about litter box training.

Post by kittycathy »

Before I begin, I just wanted to apologize if this post is placed in the incorrect forum. This is my first time at this board, and I wasn't sure if this would be considered as a question relating to a cat's health.

Today I was given a 21-month old cat. She's litter trained and everything, but the thing is I have a different litter box and a different brand of litter. After reading up online about that, I've read that this change might influence her to do her business outside of the box.

I DID show here where her box is and even placed her in it (according to my friend's advice). Since then she's sniffed and sat in it, basically just hanging out for a few seconds and then going about her merry way.

Anyone have any tips of how I can let her know that her litter box is the place where she does her business? I'm a bit nervous about this and any words of advice would be most appreciated! :)

I wouldn't worry about it, since she has done the motions in the box, she probably didn't have to go at the time.

By late tonite, or morning, you'll probably find she's used it.

I agree with Traci. Your new kitty will probably be just fine. Maybe I've been really lucky, but my cats aren't picky when it comes to litter. I haven't found a brand that has been better than another so I just buy what is on sale.
