Avatar usage ..

Do not upload avatars from other sites that are larger than 80 x 80 px...avatars that are larger than that and larger than 4-6 KB slow down the forums, and they also stretch out the forum pages, making it difficult to read the threads. I will be deleting avatars any larger than noted above.

There are several sites on the net one can find avatars, do a google search, most good avatars are either 60 x 60 (pixels) or 80 x 80 (pixels) and no larger than 4 KB. You can also use a picture editor on your pc to resize your avatars or use a gif imager on the net.

If anyone uploads an avatar larger than the size noted, and if it becomes frequent, I will disable uploading of them.

In your profile,...there's an option to upload from off-sites. Don't directly link to a site that strictly prohibits remote linking or bandwidth, it's best if you have your own site and have your avatar linked from there.
