Ivan hit us pretty hard and we have "lost" (can't find) a book that we wanted to keep for repeated readings. The problem is that we can't remember the name of book or the author.
It is a book of SHORT stories, all written by one author. The story we liked was as follows: Man comes into bar, female protagonist hops up on stool next to him. They end up going to the man's home together, and she moves in. She tells of incidents around house, ie how he takes care of her, how they snuggle together in bed, how he lets her sleep late in mornings, that he fixes her breakfast and that she lays around while he goes to work. One morning she describes how she is laying around in bed feeling *beep* until he has her breakfast ready. The surprise ending is when she comes in to eat - she states to the reader that it is not true that they (cats) never switch their tails when they eat. During the entire story, you believe that the protagonist is a woman, not a cat.
This story is the ONLY CAT story in the book.

Haven't a clue, but if you know a certain phrase or exerpt you remember from the book, type it in a Google search, it just might come up for you.
