Help!!

Post by ash xXx »

Hi

I am looking to go into veterinary nursing, and I was wondering whether people knew of any where that deals with dogs and/or cats (Eg kennels, catteries etc), that would be willing to take me on to do some work experience? And also, does anyone know of any good dairy farms, and stud/riding centres please?

Thank you!
Ash

not a clue aside from my local area. check your area for rescue shelters or maybe after hours clinics that are willing to take on volunteers.

start searching in phone book and also call a few local vets asking about the above in your area.

I have also been interested in a veterinary career lately. I have no idea what type of schooling and experience are involved in the various positions. Any information on this topic or website would be appreciated.

I strongly suggest that if you are interested in such a career, first volunteer (or apply) to a position at your local vet's clinic to get an idea if this is for you. It is a stressful, fast-paced environment, requiring many individual skills, although the rewards are worth it if you are willing to work hard. Skills and knowledge required include biochemistry, pharmacology, anesthesiology, dentistry, radiology, laboratory.

If after working at a clinic, you still feel interested in the career, you will need to check with your state veterinary board's requirements for schooling, courses, certification/liscensure/registration.

You can do a websearch for NAVTA...which is the national veterinary technician's association.
