Washing Machine Woes...

Post by TheSkeptic »

Day before yesterday, Cheryl calls me into the garage and tells me that the washer isn't washing. I check. The Agitator isn't moving and the drum is not spinning, but the water is being pumped out and I can hear the motor running.

I figure "Belt Broke." Flip the machine on its side and it is Direct Drive not Belt! At first I'm thinking stripped transmission ($150 to $200)

I start tearing it down and found out that the agitator is WAY too loose. The dogs and cam are bad in the agitator also. (Groan .. Another $5 to $10. I get the transmission and motor out, without finding any more damage. Remove the motor from the transmission and chunks of the coupling fall out. YIPPEEE!!!! it is just the coupling that failed. Total cost of parts for repair, including tax was $17.96!. The bad news is taht they had the dogs, but not the cam, so the agitator is still a bit "wobbly" at the top end.

This morning one of the dogs at the shelter had pups. Meet Princess and her pups!

Here she is being the good mama she is.

Here are the pups by themselves. (She went out to do duties, while I watched her pups for her.)
