Pet insurance

Post by Jodi »

Hi all! I was just curious if anyone out there has pet insurance for their furbabies....I've been doing some reading about it and contemplating buying some. My two are very healthy, but (knock on wood) you just never know what may happen...

I guess I'd like to know what pet insurance companies have you had good luck with, and if there were any companies that gave you the run-around! Thanks in advance for any/all input!!! :?

We had coverage with VPI (Veterinary Pet Insurance) seven years ago when our dog, Roxy, was struck by an FCE ( Fibrocartlaginous Embolism). Our vet bills ran around $7,000 and we were able to recoup about half that amount. We didn't use the insurance for routine office visits but held it in reserve in case something catastrophic happened - and it did. We currently don't have coverage, we lost Roxy to old age last March, but our experience with VPI was good in the day...they accepted claims without hassel and were prompt with claim payments.

Hi Jodi,

I have all my pets covered by PetPlan in Canada. I don't have it for regular maintenance visits but it is in place for emergencies and dental care. I never want to be placed in a situation where money is an issue if my babies need care.
