I had heard that on the news this morning. He probably wouldn't have survived if he hadn't done it, but how he was able to is beyond me.

that is amazing...i knew of one GI who cut his leg off but
the leg was just hanging by a thread or a tendon and he wanted to get the heck out of there fast....he did survive....
