well, Karen- glad I detered Honey from herding that skunk! Bust she is wafting a certain odor de Pepe...not strong, but it's there.
Anyone know of something I could just brush into her coat to deoderize her- she just had a bath at Petsmart and her skin gets too dried out to bath again so soon. They have something called Nature's Miracle..anyone ever use it?
de-skunk remedies...
Re: de-skunk remedies...
Thank goodness, I've never needed it, so I don't know anything about it. Your mentioning eau de Pepe' brings back memories. Pepe' le Pew (sp?) was (and probably still is) my Mom's favorite cartoon character. When we were in Japan, we didn't watch a lot of TV because only one show was in English, but my youngest brother liked to watch the cartoons - both Japanese and American (dubbed in Japanese). Sometimes we'd watch them with him. Whenever Pepe' came on, trying to seduce the cat in his best Japanese, we'd have to call mom. If you can imagine a cartoon skunk speaking Japanese with a French accent, you'll understand why we were so amused. That was almost 40 years ago, and my Mom still laughs when she talks about it.

Re: de-skunk remedies...
Nature's Miracle is an enzymatic cleaner, not something you can use ON your pets.
Your vet has a product called Skunk-Off, it's a bit pricey but works (be sure to ask for an opthalmic ointment to protect her eyes when using a product such as this). Or, you can bathe her again with your normal pet shampoo. For future reference, here is what you can use to remove the actual skunk spray from the coat if the pet is severely sprayed/soaked:
1 qt. 3% H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide)
1/4 c. baking soda
1 t. liquid dish soap
Work through fur and rinse thoroughly, may need to apply twice, rinse again.

Thanks. Traci- was going to get something at petsmart, but you can't beat the price of those ingredients...will buy some extra peroxide to have on hand. I just brushed some bak. soda into her coat, maybe that will be enough..we'll see
