pics at great place!
;
We went to a wonderful state park today..what a time...we were walking along the beach and out of nowhere a dog came at us. Honey went into defense mode and barked and carried on furiously trying to defend me.
I thought for sure she would be hurt as the other dog was big. Luckily the owner grabed it and totally apologized (there was a leash requirement!). But he was such a nice guy...so we went on our way. Had a great day. She went wading and watched the ducks and on the way out grabed a bone from the ground..(blood on it..maybe from an attacked duck or something??). Being such a good dog when I yelled at her to drop it she actually did! Hope she won't get sick or something from having it in her mouth. Anyway- beautiful place...ducks below. What a perfect day!

Lovely pics (but BTW - those are Canadian geese)

Karen, you are right...geese, not ducks. And those puppies are tall. They were all lined up under a tree and when we approached they drew themselves up and in a stately manner walked to the waters edge and glided away. Would not want to have one after me - they are pretty big.

very beautiful place... Honey looks great as always.
When I was a kid in western NE, my dad got everyone up before dawn one morning to drive to a wheat stubble field east of town. We lived on the mid west fly way and there were several thousand Canada Geese resting in the field, taking a break from their migration. It was truly an awesome sight and the sound was amazing.

jdf- Yes, they are beautiful. I missed a great shot as they were getting up and walking to the water - darn- camera was in case. I love to watch them in the fall when they fly over.

MomPaws, those are great pics! Sounds like Honey was in...
...her element! I'm glad the encounter with the other dog turned out fine! I'm also glad Honey didn't bring a goose back to you
Re: pics at great place!
Hi Mary- she never has shown interest in chasing big birds..maybe she is smart! Sometimes in the yard she will run at a robin in a kinda half-hearted playing fake run thing. I think she likes to think she is queen of her domain...or maybe she likes to see them take off. Now- those demon squirrels and rabbits (as you call them)- that's another story!
Re: pics at great place!
You said you thought Honey might have some Sheltie in her - if she wasn't trying to herd the geese, there may not be any Sheltie there!
We have a lot of geese around here - most are the white ones (don't know their "real" name), and they are MEAN! Gotta stay out of their way! I was up in Tallahassee helping my daughter move just a couple of weeks ago, and I was amazed by the number of Canadian geese still here. I thought they went north for the summer like the rest of our "snow birds" -
