My neighbor trapped a fox yesterday...

Post by Marty »

It was actually in my side yard which is beside her driveway, and she saw it when she was taking her daughter to school. She said it was very sluggish, as if sick or hit by a car. Animal Control wasn't open for another few hours, so she found a Vet who could handle this and took it there.

Very unusual for this suburban neighborhood! Hopefully we might hear something today about it's condition...

Glad she took to vet and not FWP

Hope he is in good health, and can be released soon. We've had two foxes twice in the last two years (might be the same one). Of course our geographical areas are quite different, but here, all the wildfires drive the wildlife out of their ranges and occasionally into suburban areas (plus we have a large river nearby).

Haven't seen any fox around here for a few years but we found coyote scat in our front yard. I also had a close encounter with a bear while sitting on my front deck steps.

Glad she took it to a vet as well. Hopefully they have good contacts with people who do wildlife rehab and can get this little guy taken care of.

I am glad she took it to a vet who was willing to take care of it! We do have a couple vets in the city, that work directly with the wildlife rescue group I am a part of. Thankfully I have had NO calls for injured critters this season...however, I have seen alot on the roadside that just did not make it...that always bothers me.

For a few nights in a row, I saw a fox, just one, hopping and playing in a ditch, far enough from the road to be safe, but just having a grand ole time playing about in the dark...about 10pm each time I saw it....but of course, since I have gone back with my camera to TRY to get pictures of it...the darn thing is no where to be seen!

Tambrey, good luck on getting pics of the little guy, they usually only come out at/after dusk, and when they do, they are so fast, they'll just end up as a blur on your pics!

I think foxes are beautiful animals. So sleek and cute. Marty, I hope 'your' fox is OK and will get better. On the downside, unfortunately, this is one animal you need to be concerned about when it come to rabies. We hear of a rabid fox attacking people here in Florida at least every 2 years or so.

Just heard from my neighbor...the fox had seizures which were getting worse. The Vet was pretty sure the fox had rabies and put it down. I guess that gets sent out to a lab?

Judy was upset, but she did the right thing all around, I think. My dogs had no contact with the fox and are up to date on shots. I sure hope her 2 dogs are also... One of them is a 14 yr old Chihuaha. Just recently she started letting her free because the young boxer was picking on her. I tried to talk to her about a solution to that, and she was working on it...sigh.

Living in GA can be weird at times...seems like there are so many different opinions on the place of animals in the home or out of the home. Sheesh, maybe this ought to be in the "Other Room."
