Two weeks ago, a friend I hadn't seen for over five years stopped by out of the blue.

We must have talked for several hours, and I stepped outside to walk her to her car.

The temps were brutally frigid, and as she walked around the car, she spotted a small kitten in my driveway beside the house.

I asked her to turn her headlights on, but it was gone.

I went in the house and grabbed a flashlight, but never found the kitten.

We have a HUGE male tomcat that has shown up in the neighborhood, and looks suspiciously like our Sage.

He runs all the other cats off.

A few days later Amber came in from work late in the evening and said 'Look at what I found in the driveway'!

Sigh.

We did call the humane society here as this could not be a worse time financially.

All their feline foster homes are full.

The vet estimated her around 7-8 weeks, so she's around 9-10 weeks now and absolute hell on wheels!

She's had the most incredible growth spurt I have ever seen in two weeks for a kitten!

I have scratches on my leg where she tried to climb my jeans while I was doing dishes!

Apparently she didn't see the 'no vacancy' sign outside!

Well, it's not like I can put her back outside to fend for herself, right?

I do have a question. Amber said we've had her 3 weeks, not 2. I have trouble remembering my name at the end of the day!

I have a question on kitten baby teeth because just in the past week, she has actually lost two teeth while she was on Amber's lap and teething on a toy.

I've read variants from as early as 2 months of age up to 4 months to start losing teeth when I did a search of the net, and all permanent teeth should be in at 5-6 months?

Is it possible the vet was off by a week or two?

She is very tiny compared to the other cats, and is teething like crazy!

It's very possible the vet is off by more than a week! (she does look more like 4 months to me)

Usually the teething stage is for around 2-3 months or so, and yes, permanents are in by 5-6 months of age. (or should be, as long as there are no oral health problems, retained teeth, crowding, etc)

I do know the two teeth she lost were canines as Amber brought them to show me, and you could see the other teeth already coming in. I was surprised she let me pull up her lips to look!

It is so neat because our old guy, Mister Kister, who is the BIGGEST one of all at 21 pounds, has become the 'surrogate father' to all who have come here after him. He's incredibly patient with them while they are kittens, grooms them, lets them climb all over him, and play with his tail, and isn't beyond giving a reprimanding swat if they get too rough!

It's time for the PM feeding for the zoo crew, so I'd best get hopping

What a beautifully marked true tabby! She is gorgeous. I too think more like 4 months - the estimated age my Q was when I got him off the streets - but that's a good age IMO, they have their minds made up in some ways, yet are still somewhat 'shapeable'... (here's ME telling YOU lol!) Anyway, enjoy!
