Scribs got another bird

Post by BoxerTom »

This time I saw her in the act. I didn't see her first catch it but saw how she dispatched it, stomped the poor thing with both front paws simultaneously (meanwhile a few other birds were divebombing Scrib's head!). This is how she plays alot too, her boxing style. Just curious do other dogs do this?

Ugh! You have to have a talk with him about his new hobby.

I've only had Dobermans and neither of them were bird killers. After he did it, did he bring it over to show you his trophy? My friend had a dog that killed a bird a day and every time dropped it at her feet like it was something fabulous!

I'm sure it's quite common. In fact, my dog is probably the only one who hasn't hunted them down. She's not normal.

Mr. Blue has gotten birds, but not by boxing...

He tends to do the grab by the neck and quick shake. He likes going for mourning doves; maybe they're the slowest and easiest.

I'm sorry, I keep referring to Scribs as a "he".

Ours have several styles, but most jump and bat the birds down with thier front paws then snap them up when they hit the ground, but Ginger and Ebony do the bat then pounce with both paws on top of the bird. My crew kills and consumes about 3 to 6 birds a week.

Not naming names and not singling any one person out, but please folks, there are bird-lovers on the board too, let's keep the descriptions less graphic please.
