Couple Saturdays ago I took Sammy the Chihuahua and neighbor Betty, a retiree from Texarkana, to a nearby PetsMart to get Sammy's Christmas picture. The volunteer camera person was late, the staff couldn't get their act together, everything was confusion... but it was okay: Betty is a very gregarious soul (originally from Arkansas) and with Sammy as her 'straight man' she soon had everyone in line laughing and introducing their dogs... while I sat to one side, enjoying it all. Finally the camera woman got there, a cute little female clerk ran to the back of the store to put on the Santa suit, and they got underway... Sammy was 2nd in line... he isn't distressed, just a bit bored by that time! And maybe wondering why the girl in the funny costume is telling him to say "Yo quiero taco belle!"
When PetSmart first opened here, we could get our own pictures with our dogs and cats....we were in line with Sammie, our doxie, and the lady in frontof us turned and said that her sister used to have a dog named Sammie...then she looked closer and was all excited because it WAS Sammie...and Sammie remembered her too and gave her lots of kisses...
she was still mad at her sister for "getting rid of" Sammie because he ran around and scratched the newly installed hardwood floors...her loss was our gain!!
