Tina, if the shelter is a kill-shelter, you'll never forgive yourself.

It's december, a holiday month, all the shelters are overrun. I'm not trying to make you feel bad or anything, I can understand your predicament, but sometimes, owners, or a good home just take a bit more time?

If this cat is as loving as you've described, I can't believe no one is looking for him. Even worse, I can't believe no one wants to take him. Tina, I definitely understand your predicament, but if you can't find him a permanent home, I hope you can at least get him into rescue.

I put this on my FaceBook page:

"Anyone want a beautiful long-haired cuddly cat? I know of one in Virginia who needs a home. He was found by someone who posts on a board I frequent, but she hasn't been able to find his owners. She can't continue to care for him, and probably can't travel far to bring him to you. Let me know if you're interested and I'll try to get the two of you together for the good of this kitty."

IF anyone responds, I'll PM you with their info so you can get in touch with them.

I already have a possibility, the neice of an old high school friend. She lives in VA. Nothing definite yet. but keep your fingers crossed. I've PM'd Tina about it.

Thank you karen!! I haven't checked my PM's but saw that I have one.

Yes Traci, I know it would be a difficult thing to do, but I can't go into a long term thing with this cat. The rescue org has been no help at all. They are overwhelmed I know but they could at least return my emails. I WANT him in a good home!! I want what is best for him, and I know he showed up here for a reason (other than that "sucker" sign!) I'm just tired, spent, and frustrated.

Ok...going to check my PMs!!

So far none of the prospects have panned out. :(

And I went over this morning to feed and check on him and the heat was out again. Nothing wrong with the heat but it is taking that much propane. If we keep it at 65 degrees with the weather we've been having (which has been mild for the last few days) it is costing $50 a week to heat the space. It is an expense that we just cannot take on right now. My choices are either find somewhere for him to go ASAP (before it gets really cold), keep him in a space that can only be heated at short intervals at at time, keep him in an unheated space, or let him go back outside. As I have said before, it isn't a matter of me lacking heartfelt desire to take care of this boy until he finds a home, but a matter of financial and logistical practicalities and quite frankly, my stress level.

Were you able to contact your vet, post flyers? Did you post a pic of kitty in your craigslist ads, etc? I know you were waiting on the rescue org for a response, but did you give them a photo also of kitty in the event someone is looking for him? A pic for the shelter too?

I have posted flyers not only at my vet but at the other vets in the area, posted on the animal control website, the rescue org FB page, and have a few businesses putting up flyers for me.

I have gotten no response from the rescue org in any official capacity. Their volunteers have been wonderful but the people who run it have not even given me the time of day. Of course I know they are overwhelmed but that is no excuse for not even responding.

I just sent another email to the rescue org...
