Ha, that's just the calm before the storm, LOL. Seriously though, try not to fret, you should expect hissing and growling when they're officially introduced, so prepare yourself. You've been on the forums long enough to know we'll help get you through intros if you need it!

Wonderful! (And like something out of a book to me personally: my father-in-law was from Killeen and his family had settled in Coryell County about 1864... more on that another time :D )

And I am so glad to know about the Kathies Kitties group: will pass the info on to DD and her DH who at present have four cats, and to newlyweds GDD & DH and their kids, who now have SEVEN  ...Needless to say, these folks in turn know a LOT of "cat people" lol.

Thanks again, SW. You and your DH rock!

Well... he's at the vet. I really liked Kathy; we sat and talked cats for a while before she decided no one else was coming. One woman dropped off TWELVE ferals she had trapped in the last couple of days, including the alpha male of the colony. They'll all be spayed/neutered, and none of them will breed anymore. It's really making a difference, especially because they got the alpha male. BOY, was he angry to be in the trap! She brought him in in the whole trap because he was WAY too mean and angry to try and get in a carrier. The rest of them seemed pretty relaxed. Kathy saved a special place away from the rest of them for my little guy. She was very reassuring and understanding. She said to give her a call around 2 PM tomorrow and she'll give me an update, but not to worry unless she calls me. So let's hope my phone doesn't ring.

Now, my little guy's eyes are real bright and he's very energetic and playful, so I don't think odds of him being sick are high. But, if he does somehow test positive for feline leukemia... what are my options? I obviously don't want Izzy to get sick but I don't want to put down a cat that's healthy and happy now. I just want to know what my options are on the outside chance that it happens. I told them not to put him down even if he tests positive.

Also, Kathy thinks he's a girl... LOL. So I guess we'll see. I think he's a neutered male, but I don't know crap, and she's a vet tech, but it was dark in the parking lot. I'll know for sure when I talk to her tomorrow.

Don't think that far ahead at this point. You can however, call her and ask if they've tested him yet. (the test only takes 10 minutes)

I gave Kathy a call but she didn't answer her phone, so I'm assuming she's got her hands full. But she said that if she didn't call ME by 2, then it's safe to assume nothing's wrong. So that's good. I'm just really curious about gender. Now I'm starting to believe it's a girl after... Izzy let me inspect her thoroughly this morning for comparison... LOL. But. Couple more hours and new-cat is home with me for good!
