Re: Can you name at least one weird thing that your cat(s) d
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Izzy is, right at this very moment, doing the most hilarious thing I've EVER seen a cat do.
Sean is standing out on the porch having a cigarette (I obviously don't let him smoke in the house). Izzy is standing on the back of a chair that is currently placed with its back to the patio door (moved it to vacuum, haven't put it back yet). Sean is moving his hand against the glass as if he was scratching her, and she has her butt right up against the glass moving it as if she can feel him scratching! I'm laughing so hard I'm almost in tears!!

Grrrrr... this isn't a weird thing in that the action is weird; what's weird is that she WON'T STOP. No matter how I try to deter her (squirt bottle, loud noises, time outs), she will NOT stop jumping on counters and batting things off. I've gotten pretty good about not leaving glasses and things on counters now, but I had set my cell phone on the counter while I was making dinner in case my husband called on his way home, and she of course had to knock it on the ground... and now the screen doesn't turn on.
I don't know what to do short of covering the counter in double-sided tape...

I read that a vet recommended getting the plastic stuff that you put down to protect your carpets...it has little nubs about an inch apart on it...
so I got a 12 foot long roll at WalMart and cut it to fit the countertops, fridge top, microwave top...all the places they have been jumping up on...so far so good...
no cereal boxes on the floor...nothing knocked off...they do not like to walk on it, but it does not hurt them either...

I'm just so mad about the phone. It wasn't even near the edge, and there were several harmless things (empty pop cans, an empty plastic spice bottle, a fork) that she could have knocked down instead. But no, she had to go for the phone.
GRRRRR.
She's so lucky she's adorable and that I don't have the capability to stay mad for very long.
What section of the store is it in, Tambrey? I unfortunately don't think I'm properly visualizing what you're talking about. And, the problem is that we're talking about the cat who LIKES walking on uncomfortable surfaces. If we get fast food and have one of those cardboard drink trays, she sleeps on that. There are two comfy couches, two chairs, and a variety of pillows and blankets... but she sleeps on the hard, bumpy drink holder. I'm willing to give anything a try, though.

it is in with the rugs and carpets...it is a clear plastic thing...like a runner...it is about 24 inches wide by 12 feet long...mainly used in front hallways for people to walk on without damaging the carpet...especially in wet weather...
here is a picture...maybe it will help

Depending on how your phone is built, check the on/off button and the battery....these are common reasons the LCD light won't work when the phone is dropped, etc. I drop mine all the time, (have even thrown it a few times) I'm surprised it even still works.
She knows what the phone is for, that's why she knocked it off. Pop cans, plastic thingies and other items are boring things, didn't you know that . I have a couple just like her....you're blessed.

We played around with it for a while, Traci. It's just... kaput. Thankfully, I do have Verizon, and they let you get a new phone every two years for very very cheap... and it's conveniently right at that two year mark. I wouldn't have preferred it to happen this way, but I'm the one who wanted the cat... lol.
She knew I was upset with her, so she came up on the couch all purrs and nuzzles and kisses. She must also know that I can't resist that much adorableness... lol. Blessed indeed!

maybe Izzy would settle down a bit if she had a playmate

I keep thinking that. I saw how much she wanted to be friends and playmates with Hooches, my friend's cat, when I introduced them. But I'm ALSO afraid it might backfire on me... ...and Izzy might end up with a twin instead of a friend! lol.
After the vacation, we'll look into it.
