Our demands have been met! (more pics)
Re: Our demands have been met! (more pics)
So far and still so good!
no more water sports since that first time when it was a bit low...
we are finding the cats are LOVING it and drinking more water....Sammie drinks from it as does Ghost when he is in here, so we usually are filling it twice a day, which is fine...

yes they do.....it holds over 1 gallon of water....something like either 140 or 160 is in my head (I am at work right now) so with filling twice a day we are going through almost 3 gallons of water I figure....
MUCH more than when I was having to keep small water bowls filled, and then they spilled....
Ghost does not drink ALOT...just a few slurps when he is in for the night and sneaks over to get a drink!
So figure 11 critters all 12 pounds and less drinking, I would say, 260 ounces a day, and then figure in evaporation as well...

I really need to try one of those for my Baxter. He used to be very strict about his water bowl in the bedroom but now he will not even go near it anymore and strictly drinks out of the puppys bowl in the kitchen. It gets to be a bit annoying now because in the middle of the night he will get thirsty and sit at the door and meow until I let him out to go into the kitchen and get his drink while his water bowl is not 10 feet from him. I think its about time to go get one for the bedroom to see if it works!

I am loving ours!!
Now that they are all used to it...there is no water sports or anything....they keep pulling the grass holder off the edge, so I need to heat a screwdriver and make a small slot in the side of this model of water cooler to hold it...
I believe the grass holder is really for the smaller size, and that one has an edge that the holder clips onto....
Oh well...they like the grass too!
Not that our cats are spoiled or anything

I was filling the water fountain for the cats and Sammie, and I dropped the water reservoirs and broke the pin that keeps the water from spilling all over when you tip the bottle into the holder....
It is gonna cost me $7.50 plus S&H to replace it.....grrr....
Cleo....DON'T DROP THE RESERVOIR WHEN YOU ARE PUTTING IT INTO THE FOUNTAIN!!!
Other than that...it is WONDERFUL....NO water being played in....they ALL drink from it...no mess on the floor...execpt that which I made today when I dropped it!!
Ohhhh...and while I was at their website, there are accessories....we have the cat grass grower and holder, but it is not made for this model....BUT...I found a toll free number that you can call and get the adaptor to hold the holder for FREE!!!!

Be careful about the cat grass thing. You should always inspect both it and the fountain and clean them both regularly (since soil and other stuff could get back into the water)

that cat grass comes in a neat little thingie that sets into another thingie...
there is no soil in the container...it is little pellets that the grass seed is contained within (since grass seed is so tiny)...it is all contained and the grass just grows out the top as the pellets get moist and absorb the water, leting the roots grow on through and the grass on up....

We also got the cleaning brush kit and use that OFTEN....the various sized brushes get into every nook and cranny to make sure no gunk is growing in hiding somewhere!!

and of course, fresh filters to change to as needed

But, but, but, I'm confused. Petsmart's site for the kitty garden attachment states to inspect it because "soil" might leach through the water.
And I'm not a horticulturist (YOU are! ), but don't seeds need soil to grow? I'd be concerned about mold or icky things circulating back into the water.

not necessarily.....seeds can sprout in just about ANY medium...heck....my son cleaned his bird's food dish in the bathroom...weeks later I could not figure out WHY the drain was so slow....come to find out that a seed had fallen down and GERMINATED and was GROWING in my drainpipe....
They just need moisture and nutrients...the nutrients look like they are wrapped up in the pellet around each seed...and of course moisture comes from the water...
Then...once the grass has sprouted....it does not take long for the cats to start chomping on it and it needs to be replaced with a new seed pod soon afterwards....
I have yet to see any soil leeching out from the pod or settled in the water dish....of course, there is fur and dust/dirt from the floor around...but we do clean and change it often, so maybe that is the difference too?
