The flea INVASION, some advice?
Re: The flea INVASION, some advice?
Caution on the grade of these powders. Inexperienced pet owners may not know the difference.

The grade? Please do explain Traci.
I think i'm going to give the diatomaceous earth a try. I never even heard of it until now. Sounds perfect. We've also had an insane number of millipedes this year *quiver* I just read it would work on those as well. Of all the bugs, the only ones i can't live with are millipedes and Centipedes. Thanks so much for the idea!
I've done the dawn before..works great, only problem is we only have 2 rooms with carpet..rest are hardwood. Yes that makes it much harder. Hardwood floors love dust, dust loves fleas, and fleas (now that all our cats are dosed with frontline) love my fiance heh
Thanks again for the help!

Grades, meaning classification of uses...industrial, commercial, garden, etc.
NEVER use "swimming pool" grade diatomaceous earth or any other D.E. product that contains the term or terms indicating "Restricted, Industrial, etc etc" you MUST read the label carefully and do not use any product with combination pesticide ingredients.
Look for "Food" grade only for D.E. products and if in doubt, do not buy it, but rather ask your vet about the ingredients. Also do not apply the product directly on your pets, and keep them away from the area(s) you choose to treat until it is vaccumed thoroughly.

I've tried the Borax, and it works. Diatomaceous earth, I think, is only sold in large bags (like 20 lbs or more) at the pool supply places. That's a huge amount. I don't know if you can find it in a smaller amount. When i used the Borax, I put it down right as we were leaving to go on vacation, so we weren't there for a week. Mickey used to like to crawl under our bed to sleep, and so that was where our biggest problem was. This year, everyone is complaining about the fleas. Frontline used to work extremely well for me, but this year, it's been a battle, and so far, I'm barely keeping ahead of them. I haven't used the Borax yet, but it's about to come to that.
