Personaly, I just wish they didn't have to go!
However, they do and I use either Tidy Cat Clay or Soft Paws Clay. Soft Paws is cheaper, but a little dustier. Tidy Cat costs a little bit more, nad is what we prefer here, but the cats don't mind switching.

I did give Fresh Step a try many years ago, when I had two cats with white paws. Well let me tell you, those little blue granules turned thier paws blue. Felt like I was living with Smurfs.
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

I used Hartz Mountain clay litter for many, many years, but the formula changed and I was finding really big rocks...not so comfortable for little padded feet!

I like so many things about clay - it absorbs urine well, and is easy to scoop. I just hated having to empty, clean, and change out the box every week. I think if my poor cats got a vote (which they don't), they'd choose clay.

Now, for all the adult cats, I use Fresh Step scoopable - sometimes for multiple cats. I have four litter boxes inside the house for four adult cats, and I scoop all of them once a day. I like the odor control and I really like not having to change the entire box. I don't like that the clumps are so heavy (!) and that litter gets all over the floor when the cats scratch around in the box.

For the little kittens, I'm trying S'Wheat, and so far I *hate* it. I think I'll switch them to clay.
