All of the herding breeds are very social - they love to be with people and other dogs. There will probably be some small tiffs - battling for the alpha position, but I'd be surprised if anything serious occurred. Allie doesn't like my daughter's dog (Buster - a Boston Terrior), but all she does is fuss at him and try to get out of his way. I don't think the Sheltie personality is that different from the Border Collie.

It sounds to me like you really want to keep this dog. If you want it to work, it will. Best of luck to all of you.

this dog has really helped my granda and i would say even saved his life!!
(my granda fell in a ditch dont ask me how! but he couldnt be seen by cars on the road and wasnt able to get back out!! the dog ran 2 miles to a neighbours house and barked the owner knew the dog would never leave my granda so knew something was wrong and followed him!!!
my granda could of lay there all night!!
he also fell in his house and couldnt get up so the dog dragged him over to a chair so he could pull him self up)
now how could i get rid of a dog like this he really needs to be thanked and i am going to work my butt of to keep him!!
BUT HE HATES CATS!!
but then again so did timmy!!
i just hope him and the old english bearded collie x will get on they both want to be boss!!!
they are playing together away from home so hopefully i can gradually bring them to the house for longer and longer periods of time
