No, it's not better to let him fend for himself.

Be careful using the shed, if the window doesn't open, you could trap either heat or cold, much like being inside a car with the windows rolled up.

The window opens and I could even leave the door open too. He would be far enough back that the weather couldn't get in to him. The door faces SE and our winds and rain usually come from the NW. I'll move him out if it is going to be sunny and warm with no chance of rain. I can also put a fan in there if the temps go up a little. You know I'll make sure he doesn't overheated or get too cold.

I think his odor is diminishing - it's not gone by any stretch of the imagination, but it doesn't seem as overwhelming, or I'm getting use to it.

He's is a very sweet boy. He lets me hold him for the longest time and doesn't resist at all. He just loves attention, bless his heart.

How far is the shed? I'd be worried leaving the door or unscreened window open of another animal coming in there and stressing him out, esp. that he's in the kitty cage condo.

He is gorgeous and I'll pray he finds a good home too. Can you keep a radio on a light music station for him, just for company?

Cleo, I wouldn't leave the door or the window open at night or if I weren't here. Besides, if I leave him on the porch there is the possibility of an animal getting near him and since most animals come out and around a night at least I can keep him safe from them in the shed. I feel better with him in there. We have some nasty thunderstorms to the west of us and lots of rain coming tonight and I know he is dry and warm.

I actually pulled a radio down that was on a shelf in the shed and plugged it in to play some music, but it didn't work so I have to find something else. We don't own any radios anymore, but I was trying to think of something I could put in there to keep him company. Of course I'm keeping the light on...couldn't stand the thought of leaving him alone in the dark.

I took him out of his condo earlier and put him on a towel on top of it and he plopped down and let me gently brush him. Occasionally he would roll over and let me rub his belly, all the while he was purring and giving me head butts. I'm telling you, this boy is going to make someone a very loving companion!

Awww Tina, he sounds like a love! To give you his belly so quick, you know he trusts you and is soooo appreciative for all you're doing for him!

*sigh* I want him, but he'd probably eat Izzy, he's so much bigger than she is... hahaha.

How much does Izzy weigh silver? I don't know how he is with other cats but I do know he and Lucy use to chat with each other through the screen door. He never seemed to act aggressive even when he was fully intact.

If you are serious I would definitely figure out a way to get him to you.

Izzy's barely 8 pounds. She's a tiny little thing. And as much as I've fallen in love with that gorgeous boy, I know that I cannot afford a second cat at this time. I'm still paying off the vet from January... *sigh* It's all I can do to keep the two of us fed right now. I get any more desperate, we might have to start sharing kibble.

(It's not that bad, but purse strings are rather tight at the moment. I couldn't in good conscience take on another kitty unless I knew I could afford everything he needs.)

I get the tight purse strings...it was tough for me to justify the money I've put out on a him but I don't regret it. I'll eat beans and rice for the rest of the year if need be. Something nudged him closer to me...maybe it was Willow, maybe my dad, maybe he just was ready to settle down, I don't know. If we didn't already have the two cats we would take him in permanently in a heartbeat. Tim has put the word out at work and there is someone who "might" be interested but I'm not holding my breath. I know how those "might be interested" people seem to rarely pan out in the end. I think I'll just beg the vet to help adopt him out for me. Heck I'll pay for his upkeep while he is there if I have to. They have a wonderful adoption room where the cats don't have to be cooped up in cages all day long. His tomcat odor seems to be diminishing. Yesterday Tim said he could smell it as soon as he got out of his vehicle. Today he could barely smell it when he walked into the shed. I think that is a good sign.

Cleo, I was surprised he gave me his belly so soon. He actually did that the day I caught him. I really think he's just ready to give up the wandering life and settle down. At least in the shed I can take him out of his condo and don't have to worry about him bolting.
