My husband was working on the retired vet's computer and we took it back tonight. We ended up sitting outside having a nice visit til the sun was down and it was getting chilly!
For most of the time we were outside, I sat holding their current orphan...a mutual friend of ours, a carpenter, was at a farm doing work and heard the dogs carrying on...he and the owner went to see and it was too late for the mom and all but 2 babies...the dogs had gotten to them...this little one is missing part of its last toe on its right front foot
but the carpenter brought the two survivors to our vet friend, and he was able to save one of them...his wife has been dropper then hand feeding it...now it eats pretty much on its own and loves yogurt and hard boiled eggs at this time, along with formula still that she makes for him....
he has a sectioned off area of the basement to roam and climb safely...uses a puppy piddle pad...she tried litter but all he wanted to do was eat it, but it does use the pads....
It has a box with an old sweater and rug section that she has folded so it has a nest to crawl into, and the current box has a hole cut in the side so it can crawl in just like it would a pouch
But the little rascal really likes to snuggle on laps and give baths...LOL...I got my hands and arms licked from fingers to elbow!
I did not have my camera with me, but hubby used my cell to get pictures that are better than nothing
Since it has only ever been hand raised, it cannot return to the wild. At this point in time, the vet and his wife said it will depend on how it acts, if it gets digressive as it gets older...if he stays tame and good like he is now, they will let him stay with them as long as he can...but if he starts to get aggressive, they will contact the zoo and see if they would want him...or the local wildlife shelter to let him be an educational animal.
I think the mrs is hoping that it will stay friendly enough to just stay with them...she has definitely fallen in love and knew they were in trouble when they decided his name was Olie...
When it started to get too chilly, the vet took him out into the yard to run around some and go potty....then held him a bit before starting to lower him into his bed...but he bugger had his ail looped around the beltloop!

He is a cutie! Reminds me though of the Geico commercial. In case you haven't seen it. daddy is outside grilling and said he thought getting a dog was too expensive, so he let the kids have a possum. They stood over the possum who wasn't moving and told Dad they thought he was dead. Dad said he was probablu just playing possum.. Next thing you know the possum hisses at them, then the Geico announcer kicks in with how much you could save using Geico.
I hope your little guy there is doing well!
