Yes, I went back to Turkiye...couldn't resist..it's too close! I have put together and album of all the cats I have met on my journey. Well I might have missed a few, but this is the majority. Mind you this isn't all the photos, those number in the 100's. These are just the select best ones. Some will make you want to cry. There was a tiny kitten on the island of Samos that I was sure was not doing well. But what could I do? I was in the middle of a Greek island on my way to Turkiye. I wanted to scream at people and tell them "do something!!" But it would have done no good. The attitude here is just not the same as in the US. I start feeding the Plaka cats this week. The volunteer I met last night told me they had spayed and neutered almost 1000 cats in I think the past 2 years. Amazing! One of the biggest problems they have here in Athens is with the dogs. The get into pack mode and kill the cats. So they try to feed them at places where they can at least get away from the dogs quickly. The also try to re-home as many as they can, but it's not always easy. We tried to catch a young kitten with a hurt leg the other night but weren't successful. Eleni was bringing a carrier with her tonight so hopefully she caught it. She's been doing this for 16 years. It's a bittersweet endeavor. She says as soon as they think they have the whole colony fixed, a new unfixed one shows up. You know the drill!
Oh, and when I was in Istanbul I saw a couple cats with clipped ears. So someone is doing spay/neuters there! I'm thrilled!
At any rate...here is an album of cats I put up. All of these are from this trip or my January trip. I'm amassing quite a collection of cat photos!

Tina, the pics are gorgeous, just absolutely gorgeous, what beautiful cats. every single one! You should make calendars, sell them, use the money to aid the work you're doing for these precious little ones.
I think I'd go insane if I were there. Well, I'd simply not be able to leave them. Imagine every single kitty you've "touched" in some way on your journey, and what a journey!

Traci, it is hard, believe me very, very hard. When I see the cats that look hurt or sick especially. Thankfully they are in the minority.
The calendar idea is not out of the question. Nine Lives actually does that and Christmas cards to raise money, so I may be able to donate some of my photos to them for that. I'd have to find out the specifics on having my photos used and getting credit though. My journey continues though. I'm headed to Rome in a couple of weeks and I understand there are around 300,000 feral cats in the city there. Mostly unapproachable though. Hopefully I can capture some of those with my lens.
